Week in Review - Sunday, January 24

Dear Parents,

This week in Hebrew School we learned all about the upcoming holiday of Tu B'Shvat when we celebrate the birthday of the trees! During In-Person Hebrew School, we enjoyed an awesome Tu B'shvat Gummy Workshop where we got to make our own healthy gummies!

GRADES K-2
We learned about how trees make the world we live in so beautiful! Without trees, our world would be so bare and plain. Trees give us so much everyday and thats why we specifically celebrate their birthday every year! We learned that in the winter, the trees are "sleeping" and on Tu B'shvat, they begin to wake up to start preparing to bloom in the spring. We also learned that we celebrate Tu B'shvat by eating special fruit from the land of Israel and we even got to try some of them!

GRADES 3-5
We discussed how on Tu B'shvat the trees in Israel begin to 'wake up' from their winter sleep and begin to prepare for the upcoming spring when they start blossoming. We also learned that as humans, we can take lots of lessons from the trees around us. Trees are constantly giving and influencing us with their oxygen, so too us as humans have to always make sure to be a good influence to those around us. Trees never stop growing - we also should never stop growing.

GRADES 6-7
We learned how since Tu B'svhat is the birthday for the trees, specifically the trees in Israel, we celebrate by eating fruits of the land of Israel. We then went deeper into the discussing the similarities between man and trees. Just like trees can only grow big and tall if they are well taken care of, so too Hashem "plants" us in this world and is constantly taking care of us. Trees are constantly giving and influencing us with their oxygen, so too us as humans have to always make sure to be a good influence to those around us. Trees never stop growing - we also should never stop growing.
